A type of impact turbine. It is mainly composed of nozzle and runner. The runner is composed of an outer rim, an inner hub and several single bowl-shaped bucket leaves fixed in between. The jet from the nozzle obliquely strikes the blades on the front of the runner at an angle of 22.5° and flows out from the back. The structure is simple, the cost is low, but the efficiency is low. Only applies to small power stations. The applicable head is 30m ～300 m.
Turgo turbine components
The nozzle is installed behind the manual speed control valve of the pressure water pipe. The nozzle is a conical tube. As the cross-sectional area of the conical tube becomes smaller, the water flow gradually accelerates, forming a high-speed jet at the nozzle outlet, which impacts the runner.
The runner is the heart of the water turbine. The larger capacity oblique runner has complex blades and streamlined cross-section (such as the airfoil of an airplane), and requires high manufacturing technology. For the miniature oblique runner, in order to simplify the production process and reduce the cost, hemispherical blades are made. The blades of the runner are stamped out on a punching machine with a 2 mm thick steel plate and trimmed by trimming. An impeller is generally composed of 18-22 blades.
3. Bearing and Volute
The bearing is a device that supports the weight and axial thrust of the rotating part of the hydroelectric generator, as well as the radial force during rotation. Mini-turbine generally has a thrust roller bearing and single row radial ball bearing.
The casing is the support of the micro-hydrogenerator unit, and the casing is fixed on the pier.

4.In a Turgo, the runner is less expensive to make than a Pelton Wheel and does not need an airtight housing like the Francis. It also has a higher specific speed, handling a greater flow than the Pelton Wheel. This leads to a reduced generator and installation cost. Turgos operate in a head range where the Francis and Pelton overlap.
