A type of impact turbine. It is mainly composed of nozzle and runner. The runner is composed of an outer rim, an inner hub and several single bowl-shaped bucket leaves fixed in between. The jet from the nozzle obliquely strikes the blades on the front of the runner at an angle of 22.5° and flows out from the back. The structure is simple, the cost is low, but the efficiency is low. Only applies to small power stations. The applicable head is 30m ～300 m.
Horizontal unit has the advantages of simple structure,convenient repair,reduce the plant height,advantages in reducing excavation depth.
The vertical unit with plant plane size small,a runner can be provided with a plurality of nozzles,(at most can be installed six nozzles),high specific speed,the same size as units of capacity is relatively small,light weight and so on.
1.The turgo hydraulic generator is composed of a manual speed regulating valve (some are needles), a nozzle, a runner, a casing, a bearing and a shaft seal.
2.The nozzle direction of the turbulent turbine is at an angle (typically 22.5°) to the plane of rotation of the runner, and the jet impinges on the impeller obliquely.The nozzle is mounted behind the pressure water pipe manual speed control valve. The nozzle is a conical tube. As the cross-sectional area of the conical tube becomes smaller, the water flow gradually accelerates, forming a high-speed jet at the nozzle outlet, and impacting the rotor.
3.In order to adjust the flow rate and control the output of the unit, the unit operates well and has high efficiency. Some micro-units are regulated with gate valves.
4.In a Turgo, the runner is less expensive to make than a Pelton Wheel and does not need an airtight housing like the Francis. It also has a higher specific speed, handling a greater flow than the Pelton Wheel. This leads to a reduced generator and installation cost. Turgos operate in a head range where the Francis and Pelton overlap.
